Mr J was exposed to excessive levels of noise, whilst working for Cammel Laird & Co Ltd for a period of over 5 years. The company made large ships and vessels. He was employed as a Welder in the factory and on the slipway. The claimant worked in confined spaces welding metal plates together. He also worked alongside other tradesmen including boiler men and caulkers who were hammering assemblies together. He was exposed to excessive and constant noise throughout his employment.

He was employed as a Operative and exposed to the noise from the turbines, cooling towers, electrical pumps, bearings and compressors, for the duration of his shifts.

He was employed as a Maintenance Engineer and exposed to excessive noise from spindle cutters, diamond grinders, drilling, grinders etc for the duration of his shifts.
