Our client was employed at the Watnall Road factory in Hucknall Nottingham where the company employed a large workforce. He was employed as an engineer repairing equipment throughout the factory which he described as being excessively noise. Witness evidence from old colleagues was obtained which supported his case.
Despite most employers being informed of the dangers of noise to workers as early as 1963, many companies failed to take adequate steps to safeguard their employees’ hearing. These steps could have been as little as provision of hearing protection however employers were also under a duty to provide training to staff on the dangers of noise and undertake noise inspections to ensure machinery and working practices were within safe levels.
As a consequence of these failures the companies insurers agreed to compensate our client for his noise induced hearing loss, noise related tinnitus and cost of hearing aids. If you have been exposed to noise by any of these companies and wish to investigate whether your hearing has been affected please contact us on 0800 294 3065.
