Noise Induced Hearing Loss Sufferer, Mr S, Wins Settlement of £7000.00 through WE Solicitors.

Mr S was exposed to excessive levels of noise, whilst working for Cammel Laird & Co Ltd for a number of years.  The company made large ships and vessels and Mr S started as an apprentice then was later employed as a plater in the factory and on the slipway.   He would have to work in confined spaces welding metal plates together and also worked alongside other tradesmen including boiler men and caulkers who were hammering assemblies together. He was exposed to excessive constant noise throughout his employment.

During Mr S’ employment, he was never provided with hearing protection and nor was he ever made aware of the dangers that working in excessive noise gives rise to. Mr S now suffers from noise induced hearing loss and mild noise related tinnitus.

It is amazing in this day and age that many people are still feeling the affects of being exposed to noise decades ago. Many of those now suffering began working as apprentices and simply did not know to ask for hearing protection or did not like to ask for fear of being the odd one out.  Hearing protection should have been readily available.

WE Solicitors were able to negotiate an out of court settlement of £7,000 avoiding the need for court proceedings. Both Mr S and WE Solicitors are very pleased with the outcome.
