Noise induced hearing loss sufferer, Mr Carl Plumb, wins settlement of just over £5500 through WE Solicitors.

Mr Carl Plumb was exposed to excessive levels of noise, whilst working in the building industry for a period of over 30 years. Mr Carl Plumb worked for H Baggaley Construction Group PLC. He was employed as a Construction Worker and exposed to the noise from hammer drills, jigger picks, hydraulic breakers, jigs, pneumatic drills and electric breakers, for the duration of his shifts.

During Mr Carl Plumb’s employment, he was never provided with hearing protection and nor was he ever made aware of the dangers that working in excessive noise gives rise to.

Mr Carl Plumb now suffers from mild noise induced hearing loss and mild noise related tinnitus, which was confirmed when WE Solicitors arranged a medical assessment of her hearing condition. This was presented to the defendants, as part of the evidence, to support Mr Carl Plumb’s claim.

Often cases involving construction workers are difficult as workers move around a lot within the industry – this case was different as Mr Plumb had worked at the same place for many years.

WE Solicitors were able to negotiate an out of court settlement of just over £5500 for Mr Carl Plumb, avoiding the need for court proceedings. Both Mr Carl Plumb and WE Solicitors are very pleased with the outcome.
