Mr Boocock was exposed to excessive levels of noise, whilst working for a period of around 8 years for Locker Wire Weavers Ltd, of Church Street, Warrington, Cheshire. The company was involved in the manufacture of wire mesh for products such as fireguards and filters.
Mr Boocock was employed as an overlooker, based in Factory 4, which housed up to around 200 looms. He advises that the noise of the machinery was such that if he wanted to communicate with someone around 4 feet away, he would have to shout. Mr Boocock advised that the company never provided any training on the dangers of working in a noisy environment and nor did they ever tell staff to wear hearing protection.
Mr Boocock now suffers from mild noise induced hearing loss and mild noise related tinnitus, which was confirmed when WE Solicitors arranged a medical assessment of his hearing condition. This was presented to the defendants, as part of the evidence, to support Mr Boocock’s claim.
WE Solicitors were able to negotiate an out of court settlement of £5,250.00 for Mr Boocock, avoiding the need for court proceedings. Both Mr Boocock and WE Solicitors are very pleased with the outcome.
