Mutual Mills former worker receives compensation

WE Solicitors managed to obtain £4,500 compensation for Mrs Anne Armstrong from Heywood. Mrs Armstrong was employed as a Quality Control Assistant at Mutual Mills Ltd in Heywood from approximately 1972 to 1981. During her employment Mrs Armstrong was subjected to excessive noise from speed frames and drawer frames.

WE obtained supportive medical evidence from an Ear, Nose and Throat Consultant, which confirmed that Mrs Armstrong was suffering with a mild degree of deafness and a moderate degree of tinnitus.

This was a particularly difficult case as the Defendant initially disagreed with the medical evidence obtained and attempted to argue that Mrs Armstrong’s hearing loss was due to age and therefore refused to offer any compensation. WE Solicitors did not accept the Defendant’s position and continued to fight Mrs Armstrong’s case and the Defendant eventually agreed to pay compensation.
