Machine Operator Wins Over £1,000 Damages for Hearing Loss

Mr. Rowlands of Ystrad Mynach, Hengoed was a former Hobeamer Machine Operator, Carder and Scrutching Department Worker for Chicopee Limited C/O Johnson & Johnson Limited, where he worked for 5½ years. He is now 52 years old and suffers with hearing loss, which was caused by exposure to excessive noise at work.

The factory, in which Mr. Rowlands worked, failed to provide him with any hearing protection and failed to warn him of the dangers of exposure to excessive noise levels.

Mr. Bhudia was exposed to the noise of Hobeamer Machines, Scrutching Machines and Carding Machines. He worked in the Scrutching Department and the Carding Department.

It was not until 2008 that Mr. Rowlands came to realise the problems with his hearing was a cause of having worked in noisy environments. Mr. Rowland’s said, “My personal life has been hugely affected by my hearing loss. I often find it difficult to concentrate on multiple conversations. I find it very embarrassing to ask people to repeat themselves, especially when I am out in public.”

WE Solicitors were able to settle Mr. Rowland’s claim against Chicopee Limited C/O Johnson & Johnson Limited, for over £1000.00. Mr. Rowlands was very happy with the successful outcome of his claim.
