Noise induced hearing loss sufferer, Mrs C, wins settlement of an undisclosed sum through WE Solicitors.
Mrs C was exposed to excessive levels of noise, whilst working in the weaving industry for a period of around 4 years, between 1965 and 1969. Mrs C worked for Perseverance Mills Ltd of Albion Street, Padiham, Burnley. She was employed as a silk weaver throughout and exposed to the noise silk looms, for the duration of her shifts.
During Mrs C’s employment, she was never provided with hearing protection and nor was she ever made aware of the dangers that working in excessive noise gives rise to. Mrs C now suffers from mild noise induced hearing loss and a moderate degree of noise related tinnitus, which was confirmed when WE Solicitors arranged a medical assessment of her hearing condition. This was presented to the defendants, as part of the evidence, to support Mrs C’s claim.
WE Solicitors were able to negotiate an out of court settlement for Mrs C, avoiding the need for court proceedings.
