Former Textile Technician for Smith and Nephew Awarded £6,000.

 
 
 

Mr  R of Nelson, Lancashire was awarded £6,000 damages as a result of suffering hearing loss and tinnitus due to being exposed to excessive noise in the workplace.

Mr  R was employed by Smith & Nephew in Brierfield from approximately 1975 until 1997. Mr  R worked as a Textile Technician repairing the weaving machines. For a large part of his employment Mr  R was not provided with hearing protection and this resulted in his injuries.

Medical evidence was obtained from an Ear, Nose and Throat Consultant who confirmed that Mr  R had suffered injury by way of hearing loss and tinnitus as a result of exposure to excessive noise.

Negotiations were entered into with the insurers of Smith & Nephew and eventually an agreement was reached as to how much compensation Mr  R should be awarded.
