Noise induced hearing loss sufferer, Mrs F wins settlement of £5,500 through WE Solicitors.

Mrs F was exposed to excessive levels of noise, whilst working in industry for a period of over 24 years.  She worked for Royal Ordnance Factory from 1969/70 to 1971/72 at their site at Radway green where she was employed as a Case Filler. Mrs Fwould uses presses to put the detonators insude the bulletts. Once the Detonators were in place, a Manoring machine would stamp the bullet shut. Mrs F describes the noise as horrendous.

She worked for GEC Elliot Automation Limited and their successors in title (GEC Industrial Controls Limitied and Cegelec Industrial Controls) from 1971/72 to 1993 at their site based in Stoke on Trent. Mrs Fowell was exposued to excessive noise from Printing presses and guillotines.

During her employment, she was never provided with hearing protection and nor was she ever made aware of the dangers that working in excessive noise gives rise to. Mrs F now suffers from mild noise induced hearing loss and mild noise related tinnitus, which was confirmed when WE Solicitors arranged a medical assessment of her hearing condition. This was presented to the defendants, as part of the evidence, to support her claim.

WE Solicitors were able to negotiate an out of court settlement of £5,500 avoiding the need for court proceedings.   Mrs F said ‘ thank you for all your help and the money you got for me.’
