Former Police Officer wins £7,500 through WE Solicitors for Noise Induced Hearing Loss.

Mr S was exposed to excessive levels of noise, whilst working in the communications suite with Greater Manchester Police.  He wore a headset throughout his shift with no noise limiters and was exposed to excessive noise through the use of these headsets.

During Mr S’s employment, measures were not put in place to protect him from exposure to excessive noise through the use of headsets, nor was he ever made aware of the dangers that excessive noise gives rise to. Mr S now suffers from mild noise induced hearing loss and noise related tinnitus, which was confirmed when WE Solicitors arranged a medical assessment of his hearing condition. This was presented to the defendants, as part of the evidence, to support the claim.

The claim was denied by the Defendants for some time and following a supportive engineering report confirming exposure to excessive noise, the Defendants agreed to settle the case less than one month before the case was due to go to trial.

WE Solicitors were able to negotiate an out of court settlement of £7,500 in this case without the need to attend a court hearing.
