Mr Keith Wildish was exposed to excessive levels of noise, whilst working in the paper mills and engineering industry for a period of over 10 years. Mr Wildish worked for Crossley Brothers Limited and Yates Duxbury.. He was employed as a Moulder at Crossley Brothers and a Machine Operator on the paper making machines at Yates Duxbury. He was exposed to excessive noise for the duration of his shifts.
During Mr Wildish’s employment, he was never provided with hearing protection and nor was he ever made aware of the dangers that working in excessive noise gives rise to. Mr Wildish now suffers from mild noise induced hearing loss and mild noise related tinnitus, which was confirmed when WE Solicitors arranged a medical assessment of his hearing condition. This was presented to the defendants, as part of the evidence, to support Mr Wildish’s claim.
Some of Mr Wildish’s noise exposure could not be claimed for, as some took place prior to 1963, which is the date of guilty knowledge.
Despite this, WE Solicitors were able to negotiate an out of court settlement of just over £4200 for Mr Wildish, avoiding the need for court proceedings.
Mr Wildish said ‘I was really pleased when you took my case on and was really more pleased with the outcome. I would recommend your service to anyone.’
