WE Solicitors managed to obtain £5,500 for Mr Dennis McHugh from Heywood. Mr McHugh was employed at Mutual Mills (later known as Lister Yarns) from 1968 until 1997. He was initially employed as a Trainee and worked his way up to Foreman, then Senior Foreman and finally Assistant Mill Manager.
During his employment, Mr McHugh was subjected to excessive noise from various sources including old-style spinning frames, slubber frames, intermediate roving frames, carding machines, drawing frames, speed frames, ring frames and rota/open-end spinners. Hearing protection was not provided until around 17 years into Mr McHugh’s employment.
WE Solicitors obtained supportive medical evidence from an Ear Nose & Throat Consultant confirming that Mr McHugh suffers from noise induced hearing loss and tinnitus.
Mr McHugh contacted WE Solicitors at the end of August 2009 and by July 2010 he was in receipt of his damages.
