Former Courtaulds Employee In A Successful Claim For Noise Induced Hearing Loss

Mr. Walayet of Oldham worked for Courtaulds Limited for nearly 12 years. He worked in Lilac Mill, Dee Mill, Maple Mill and Premier Mill, where he was exposed to excessive noise, whilst employed as a Doffer and a BD Spinner.

He was exposed to noise regardless of the mill he was working in. He was exposed to the noise of both spinning frames and card machines.

Mr. Walayet said, “When I was working with the spinning frames, especially the BD spinning frames, it sounded like an aeroplane was constantly setting off. The noise never went away.”

Hearing protection was never made available to Mr. Walayet.

Mr. Walayet would often comment to his colleagues that he struggles to hear on the telephone and having discussed it with his colleague’s, he decided to investigate the possibility of making a claim.

After obtaining supportive medical evidence from an ENT Consultant, WE Solicitors successfully secured a sum of £3000 from the Defendants, in respect of Mr. Walayet’s work related hearing loss.
