Former Castings Industry Worker Receives Compensation for Noise Induced Hearing Loss

Mr John Matthew Benjamin Allcock was exposed to excessive levels of noise, whilst working in the Castings Industry industry for a period of over 30 years. Mr John Matthew Benjamin Allcock worked for Federal Mogul Camshaft Castings Limited, which was also known as The British Piston Ring Co Limited. He was employed as a Fettler and he later worked in the Sand Lab. He was exposed to the noise of shor blasters, fettling, metal castings dropping into the bins, grinders, and forklifts, for the duration of his shifts.

During Mr John Matthew Benjamin Allcock’s employment, he was not provided with hearing protection and nor was he ever made aware of the dangers that working in excessive noise gives rise to until approximately 1994. Mr John Matthew Benjamin Allcock now suffers from mild noise induced hearing loss and mild noise related tinnitus, which was confirmed when WE Solicitors arranged a medical assessment of her hearing condition. This was presented to the defendants, as part of the evidence, to support Mr John Matthew Benjamin Allcock’s claim.

Despite this, WE Solicitors were able to negotiate an out of court settlement for Mr John Matthew Benjamin Allcock, avoiding the need for court proceedings. Both Mr John Matthew Benjamin Allcock and WE Solicitors are very pleased with the outcome.
