Former Barlow & Jones Spinner work wins her claim for Noise Inducing Hearing Loss

Noise induced hearing loss sufferer, Pauline, wins settlement of £1,500.00 through WE Solicitors.

Mrs Williamson worked for Barlow & Jones Spinners, which was also known as Carrington Viyella Yarns Ltd, CV Yarns, Falcon Mill, CV Falcon Mill and CV Woven Fabrics, whilst she worked there. Mrs Williamson worked there variously between the years of 1969 and 1990, at the site on Halliwell Road, Bolton, Lancashire.

Mrs Williamson was employed as a spinner and a doffer throughout and exposed to the noise of around 20 to 25 spinning frames, for the duration of her shifts.

Mrs Williamson was not provided with hearing protection until around the late 1980’s, when the damage had already been done. Mrs Williamson now suffers from mild noise induced hearing loss and severe tinnitus, which was confirmed when WE Solicitors arranged a medical assessment of her hearing condition. This was presented to the defendants, as part of the evidence, to support Mrs Williamson’s claim.

WE Solicitors were able to negotiate an out of court settlement of £1,500.00 for Mrs Williamson, avoiding the need for court proceedings. Additionally, Mrs Williamson has had two previous successful claims against another two companies, whom exposed her to excessive noise; Swan Lane Spinning Ltd and SGH Moulds Ltd. In total, Mrs Williamson has won £2,995.50 for her claim for noise induced hearing loss.

Both Mrs Williamson and WE Solicitors are very pleased with the outcome.
