Mr T wins £1825.20 payout after working as a Refractory Brick Layer for Appleby Frodingham Steel Company at Brigg Road in Scunthorpe from 1960-1969.
He was exposed to noise from pneumatic drills/windy hammers that he used to dig out old brickwork. Noise from Riveters who worked alongside him as they would be fixing in place large steel sheets with air-powered guns. He also worked alongside welders and Steel Erectors. There was no kind of separation of work so they often would be working on the same furnace at the same time.
This was a particularly difficult case because during Mr T’s National Service on two occasions his platoon shot antitank shells and he also trained with a 303 rifle. Although a discount had to be given for this exposure to noise, a good settlement was reached with the Defendants without Mr T needing to attend court.
