Our client was exposed to excessive levels of noise for a period of over 30 years whilst working for Electrical Musical industries Limited, which was also known as EMI Limited. During his period of employment he was employment as a sheet metal worker, he was exposed to the noise of hammers, rollers, hand folders and guillotines for the duration of his shifts.
He was never provided with hearing protection and nor was he ever warned of the damage that could be done due to noise exposure. Our client now suffers from mild noise induced hearing loss and mild noise related tinnitus which was confirmed upon medical assessment.
In this case it was necessary to issue legal proceedings but settlement of £7,000 was negotiated without the need to attend court.
