Mr. Clark of Chadderton, Oldham was a former Charge Hand / Junior Foreman for Osram Limited, where he worked for 6½ years. He was 66 years old when he started his claim and sadly passed away a year into the investigations, at which time he was suffering with hearing loss, which was caused by exposure to excessive noise at work.
The late Mr. Clarks son, Prof. Clark entailed WE Solicitors help in obtaining a Grant for Representation, following which he was able to continue with his late fathers claim on behalf of his late father’s estate.
Mr. Clark worked in both the Cape Mill and the Duke Mill. Both mills failed to provide him with any hearing protection and failed to warn him of the dangers of exposure to excessive noise levels.
Mr. Clark was exposed to the noise of the Pinch Machines, the Sealex Machines, Hydraulic Pumps and the Capping Machine. He was also exposed to the various noise created by the Production Lines, the noisiest being the Ascot Line. Mr. Clark worked in the TL2 Department and the HPS Department.
It was not until 2009 that Mr. Clark came to realise the problems with his hearing was a cause of having worked in noisy environments. Mr. Clark said, “I have problems hearing the television and have to turn the volume up. I also have difficulty taking part in a conversation, often asking people to repeat themselves. I struggle to hear when there is background noise, as I cannot follow what is being said.”
WE Solicitors were able to settle Mr. Clark’s claim against Osram Limited, for £4000.00. Prof. Clark was very happy with the successful outcome of his late father’s claim.
