Noise induced hearing loss sufferer, Mr C, wins settlement of £4,000.00 through WE Solicitors.

Mr C was exposed to excessive levels of noise, whilst working for Rochdale Metropolitan Borough Council, for a period of around 30 years, between 1978 and 2008. During this time, Mr C was employed as a loader and a driver loader and his duties involved collecting refuse and recycling materials and emptying them in to the collection wagons.

Mr C was based first of all at the site at Townley Street of Middleton, Manchester, then at the Millfold Depot in Middleton and latterly, at the Green Lane site in Heywood, Lancashire. He was exposed to the noise of the wagons, the sound of the materials (such as glass bottles) hitting the bottom of the wagon wells and the crushing noise of the wagons when they crushed the materials which had been emptied in. Mr C advises that he was never provided with any noise awareness training and nor was he ever given any hearing protection.

Mr C now suffers from mild noise induced hearing loss, which was confirmed when WE Solicitors arranged a medical assessment of his hearing condition. This was presented to the defendants, as part of the evidence, to support Mr C’s claim.

WE Solicitors were able to negotiate an out of court settlement of £4,000.00 for Mr C, avoiding the need for court proceedings. Both Mr C and WE Solicitors are very pleased with the outcome.
