Compensation for former Beswicks Ltd employee

Mrs H wins £1050 payout after developing noise induced hearing loss, as a result of her employment with Beswicks Ltd and John Bright & Bros Ltd.

Mrs H worked as a line inspector at John Bright & Brothers Ltd, Rochdale, in the winding and weaving departments and was exposed to the noise of heavy textile machinery, all day, everyday, from 1980 to 1981.

She was employed at Beswicks Ltd, Littleborough, as a packer, in the food processing plant. Mrs H was exposed to the noise of the bottling machinery, continuously throughout her employment, from 1986 to 1990.

As a result, Mrs H suffered from noise related hearing problems, which was confirmed in the medical report, arranged for her by WE Solicitors. The report was sent to the defendants, in support of Mrs H’s case along with details of her claim.

A settlement was subsequently agreed out of court. Mrs H also worked for other companies, where there was excessive noise exposure. As these companies had dissolved and their insurance history could not be traced, further claims were not possible. This was unfortunate, as often, the insurance history of such companies can be traced.

Mrs H was pleased with the outcome.
