£4000 COMPENSATION FOR WORK RELATED HEARING LOSS

WE Solicitors managed to obtain £4000 compensation for Mrs K from Wigan, who suffers with work related hearing loss. Mrs. K developed occupational deafness over a period of several years, working as a bobbin intermediate at Courtaulds’ May Mill.

Mrs. K recalls being exposed to the noise of intermediate frames, used to spin yarn, roller machines, used to mix cotton, card machines and spinning frames.

WE Solicitors obtained supportive medical evidence, confirming Mrs. K was suffering with noise induced hearing loss and were also successful in obtaining supportive witness evidence, as confirmation of the noisy environment in which Mrs. K worked.

The Defendants in this matter were adamant that they would defend the claim all the way to trial. Fortunately, WE Solicitors succeeded in applying the pressure, until the Defendants had no option but to make an offer to settle.

Mrs. K said, “My hearing has gradually been deteriorating. I have difficulty hearing on the phone and need the volume on full and I also need the television turned up at a high volume. In addition, I suffer with buzzing sounds in both my ears, which keep me awake at night and makes it very difficult for me to concentrate when reading.”

The thought of having to go to Court was a scary one, even though I know I did nothing wrong. I am so pleased that WE Solicitors have managed to settle my case before the trial date.”

Mrs. K was delighted at the outcome of her case and impressed with WE Solicitors’ knowledge in the area.
