WE Solicitors managed to obtain £6,500 for Mr John Stretch from Atherton. Mr Stretch was employed by Ingersoll-Rand in Hindley Green from approximately 1977 until 2001. For the first 7 years of his employment, Mr Stretch worked as a Spindle Driller where he was exposed to excessive noise from spindle drills and a gun drill. Hearing protection was not provided whilst Mr Stretch worked as a Spindle Driller.
WE Solicitors obtained supportive medical evidence from an Ear Nose & Throat Consultant who confirmed that Mr Stretch was suffering from noise-induced hearing loss and tinnitus.
This was a particularly difficult case as the Defendant continually delayed in investigating the allegations against them. However, WE Solicitors continued to press the Defendant for a response and eventually they offered Mr Stretch some compensation.
