Mr B wins £5000 payout after working as a Autoconer Technician at Harwood Cash, Llangold from 1962 to 1975, and later at Courtaulds /Shiloh Spinners Ltd, Mansfield caused him to lose some of his hearing.

This was a particularly difficult case as Mr B was provided hearing protection towards the end of his employment, therefore the Defendants argued that he would have known at that stage that the loud noise he had been exposed to could have caused damage to his hearing.  They said that he should have therefore known that as soon as his hearing loss came on that it could have been caused by work.    Mr B’s hearing loss came on gradually many years later and he did not at first think it was related to the noise exposure however he did not wish to risk the judge not finding in his favour and decided he would accept the Defendant’s offer.
