£2000.00 for noise induced hearing loss

Mr W wins £2000.00 for noise induced hearing loss, after exposure to noise at West End Tufting Machinery Ltd (later called Pendhill Engineering Ltd) of Blackburn, Lancashire.

Mr W had been employed as a maintenance engineer, from 1978 to 1990. He was exposed to fabrication shop noise, such as lathes, presses, grinders, cutting machines and milling machines. Mr W was never provided with hearing protection, nor warned that exposure to excessive levels of noise, could damage his hearing.

WE Solicitors arranged for Mr W to undertake a medical, which confirmed he was suffering from hearing loss and tinnitus, brought on by his previous exposure to noise in the work place. This medical evidence was presented to the defendants, in support of the claim.

This was not a straightforward case, as there were two other defendants involved; Tensar International Ltd and British Northrop Ltd. This meant that three claims had to be co-ordinated at once. Fortunately, both of these claims have settled and Mr W received a total of £1,347.55 in settlement of the same.

Both Mr W and WE Solicitors were pleased with the outcome.

Thank very much, your firm has done a good service.  I would have probably just gone on putting up with my problem then eventually had to do something about it.  But by your company getting my award this will help with equipment to help me.  Thanks Mr W
