Mr M is awarded a £7,000.00 settlement after winning his case for noise induced hearing loss.
Mr M was employed by Osram (GEC) Ltd at Shaw, Oldham from 1978 to 2000. He was employed as a labourer for the first 6 months and as a filmer, for the rest of the time. As a labourer, Mr M was exposed to the noise of various different kinds of machinery, involved in the manufacture of lighting. As a filmer, Mr M was required to operate a filming machine, which coated light bulbs with an acid, as part of their preparation.
Mr M advises that his working environment was so noisy, he had to shout or gesture to communicate with a colleague a few feet away. At no point was Mr M warned of the dangers of excessive noise exposure and nor was he provided with any hearing protection.
WE Solicitors were able to negotiate a settlement of £7,000.00 for Mr M, with the defendant’s insurers, without the need for court proceedings. Both Mr M and WE Solicitors are very pleased with the result.
